Dr. John Haan is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at California State University, Fullerton, where he has worked since 2011. At CSUF, Dr. Haan has taught the following Chemistry classes: 100 (Survey of Chemistry), 120B (General Chemistry), 315 (Theory of Quantitative Analysis), 316 (Quantitative Analysis Laboratory), 411A (Spectroscopy), 411C (Separations), 411D (Electrochemistry), 490 (Internships), 492 (Sustainability Projects), and 511 (Advanced Analytical Chemistry). In Chemistry 120B and 315, Dr. Haan uses a flipped classroom model that incorporates a workbook and pre-class assignments.
Prior to CSUF, Dr. Haan taught chemistry for 1 year at Towson University. Dr. Haan earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2010, M.S. in Chemical Education from University of Florida in 2005, and B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1999. Such collaboration: 1) gives us access to ideas and instrumentation we otherwise would not, 2) sparks high-level scientific discussions with experts in the fields of energy, chemistry, and engineering, and 3) affords an opportunity for our students to interact with Ph.D. candidate graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, scientists, and professors.
